Maria & David
Maria and David had always worked hard to build a stable life for their family.
With two young children at home, they carefully budgeted every paycheck to cover rent, groceries, childcare, and everyday expenses. While they didn’t have much left over each month, they took pride in providing a safe and loving home for their kids.
Everything changed when David unexpectedly lost his job.
The company he had worked for downsized, and with little warning, his position was eliminated. Although he immediately began searching for new employment, weeks passed without an offer. Savings quickly disappeared as the family struggled to keep up with rent, utility bills, groceries, and other necessities.
The stress became overwhelming. Maria picked up extra hours whenever she could, but it still wasn’t enough to cover their monthly expenses. They worried about how they would keep the lights on, put food on the table, and avoid falling behind on rent while David continued his job search.
Determined not to give up, they reached out for help. Through Uprising Foundation, Maria and David received temporary financial assistance that helped cover essential living expenses during their time of crisis. We also connected them with local food programs, employment resources, utility assistance, and community organizations that provided additional support while David searched for work.
Just a few weeks later, David accepted a full-time position with a new employer. Because they received help when they needed it most, the family was able to remain in their home, avoid overwhelming debt, and focus on rebuilding their financial future instead of recovering from a devastating setback.
Today, Maria and David are back on their feet. They’re once again able to provide for their children, plan for the future, and move forward with confidence
